The BTCC is back!
This Saturday and Sunday 7th and 8th April at Brands Hatch, Jack Goff returns with Eurotech and new title sponsor Wix Racing for the 2018 BTCC season.
Having narrowly missed out on the independents' championship in 2017, Jack returns for his second season in the Honda Type R with a real chance to upset the largely manufacturer-dominated motorsport and we here at Priority Recruitment are delighted to also be back for our second season sponsoring Jack and the Eurotech family with the outstanding addition of Wix Racing as title sponsor.
There was a real buzz around the paddock specifically the Eurotech and Wix Racing garage on Media Day on the 27th of March and for very good reason. Not only does Jack Goff have a real opportunity now he is back for a second season but the odds of him winning the championship went from 20-1 to 10-1 in just that one day.
Dave Warren, MD of Wix puts a lot of this down to the fantastic buzz and 'real family feel' he got from the garage of Jack and Brett (Smith who returns alongside Jack to race for Eurotech and Wix Racing in place of his father Jeff the owner of Eurotech who had to retire from the championship last year due to injury). The garage was full; the whole #JG31 family was there putting all others in the shade and with the new 'float like a butterfly, sting like a bee' livery there is a real sense of belief in everyone for the upcoming season.
See more video here from the legend and Priority friend (and occasional videographer!) James Heron and if you do want to know more about sponsoring Jack; get in touch with our team for more details.

Making the Freddo formula work for you
The "Freddo Formula" and what it means for you
Over the last few years, the boring statistics from the Bank Of England & Government have been cast aside for a new "Standard Unit of Inflation Measurement" - The humble Cadburys Freddo chocolate bar, a staple ingredient of many school lunch boxes.
Sadly over the last ten years, the price has risen dramatically, from 10P to 30P! (Some can even remember the hallowed days of 5p Freddos... whilst others speak between sobs of prices as high as 35P!) However, I imagine that Cadburys are pretty chuffed they have maintained sales whilst tripling prices! The Freddo formula works for them!
Has your salary or commission grown at the same pace? Probably not.
Has your opportunity for advancement, development or training grown? Possibly not.
Against all odds, we are blessed with opportunities here at Priority Recruitment. Over the last year our team has grown, whilst giving the same great service to clients & candidates - this means we are now blessed with lots of vacancies.
What does this mean for you regarding the "Freddo Formula"? Well, not every employer is the same, whilst commission goes back in some businesses it moves forward in others. Whilst some shelve their training and development plans, others invest in theirs. Whilst some companies shrink, others are growing, even in these tough economic times (mustn't mention Brexit, mustn't mention Brexit, mustn't.... dammit).
So if you want to find out if there is an opportunity to give you what you are missing, check out our list of vacancies or register your CV - Or just click over to meet our team, pick a consultant that works in your field and pick up the phone for a chat.
Best of luck in making the Freddo Formula work for you.
Kieron Smithson
P.S. What's that? You came from a social media post and you just want to know where to buy Freddos for under 15p again? Oh ok... .Keep scrolling.
Further.
You've got to really work for a cheap Freddo.
I'm beginning to doubt you really WANT a cheap Freddo.
Oh you do?
*Valid till the end of November 2017. Who knows how much they will cost in the future?
Priority Sponsors Jack Groff at the BTCC 2017
Jack Goff follows up his superb driving in the qualifiers to get another pole and is rewarded with a 2nd, 9th and his first 1st place finish of the 2017 BTCC season at Silverstone last weekend.
Continuing to climb up the drivers championship (Jack is now 6th overall) Jack continues his fantastic performances with another showstopper at Silverstone. With the Eurotech garages teeming with more than twice the number of fans than any other garage at Silverstone Jack does not disappoint with another masterclass in driving to gain only his second ever 1st place finish in the BTCC; the last one coming in 2015.
Fans' favourite and future BTCC champion Goff had his 'family' with him, and we don't just include Priority Recruitment in this list. Candeo Vision, Carriage Return, MAC Tools, Empire RV, Dunlop and of course, Jeff Smith and Eurotech were as always supporting Jack in full force as sponsors plus his full team of friends and family (too many to mention and I don't want to leave anyone out!) Our very own MD Anders Christiansen, Operations Director Chris Thomson and Consultant Opal Harrop were there (along with Alex who insisted on coaching Jack on how to 'dab!')
There were certainly many proud sponsor moments over the weekend; that's for sure! Not least 'the drift masterclass!'
We continue to support and are really looking forward to the finale at Brands Hatch on 1st October; we'll be there in force cheering Jack on in the race for the independents championships.
Well done and good luck Jack from everyone here at Priority Recruitment!

Template & Top Tips For The Perfect CV
Here at Priority Recruitment we know that whilst you may be an amazing Support Worker, a high performing Retail Sales Consultant, a brilliant Business Development Manager or a fantastic Area Manager, this doesn't necessarily make you a fantastic CV writer. Whilst we value talking to people and getting to know the real you, a CV is still a valuable tool and likely to form the cornerstone of your wider search.
Our team put their heads together to assemble a list of top tips for the perfect CV in the Retail, Sales, Healthcare and Operations sectors.
- Eye-Catching Personal Statement with aims, objectives and ambitions
- Don’t just describe what you did, bullet point how you did it and what you achieved (Outcome / Numbers / Targets)
- Highlight your career achievements
- Update your CV before beginning your job search, approximately 1 in 4 of cv's we receive is out of date
- Ensure you use accurate months to identify your employment (use months, not just years, however no need to use specific days)
- If you have a broad range of experience in multiple sectors (i.e. hospitality then moved into retail) ensure your cv is tailored towards the role you are applying for
- Spelling, grammar and formatting mistakes are just not acceptable. Ensure you use the same font throughout (Arial 10 for example) with Arial 12 in bold for headings. Keep it simple! Don't use ALL CAPITALS as spell checkers ignore all capital words.
- Stand out with facts, figures & achievements - not pictures and infographics. Keep it simple!
- Keep it relevant, jobs over 10/15 years ago can be abbreviated down to 1 or 2 lines of key info. Stick to 2 or 3 pages. Keep it simple!
- Keep it simple! Did we mention? Keep it simple!
- Download our CV Template which contains additional tips or formatting hints using the link below;

If you would like it in a different format, please use the contact us page to get in touch. Please head over to the relevant sector or meet the team.
Once you are happy with it, please register and/or upload your new CV.
Shaun, Regional Manager
"Hand in glove understanding of what our needs are and matching us with candidates.
Over the last 7 years I have worked with many different people at Priority Recruitment. The consistent outcome continues to be them, finding, matching and delivering to us great people who fit perfectly with our team dynamic and culture."
Shaun, Regional Manager
"I have worked with Priority Recruitment for over 7 years and continue to do so as they have provided me with consistently excellent service.
An ability to understand our industry-specific requirements and convert that into candidates, new acquisitions and now many long-standing and successful members of our team. Priority Recruitment and their team's actions over the years have been integral to our own business success."
It is sadly an all too familiar site in retail, sales, or healthcare to see a once beloved and respected brand falling into administration.
It can be a difficult thing to deal with for anyone, which is why we came up with a few quick steps to take if this happens to you. It isn't intended as a legal guide nor does it cover recovering pay, but is designed more as a practical 'do NOW' guide to help you keep moving forward and back into employment.
1. The physical stuff.
Are you still allowed access to your place of work? Collect your belongings! Then capture any information you are rightfully entitled to:
- Payslips (digital systems may stop working)
- Reviews
- Proof of sales vs targets
- Proof of entitlement to commission, overtime or expenses
- Proof of your current role & title if you have recently been promoted
2. Connect with your colleagues.
Times like this are pretty crappy, you will need people to lean on, share with and hopefully; provide mutual support. Your colleagues will be a great support network for you. Reach out in your normal ways - also look to connect professionally on LinkedIn. Typically following an administration once a new employer has taken on one or two staff from the closed business & seen the value in their training etc, they will want to employ more. Connect professionally so you can see what is happening and help each other out.
3. Refresh your CV.
Yep, a painfully obvious one, but critical nonetheless. Need some direction? Have a look at our blog on updating your CV and check out all our Career Advice blogs. If you've already had a go at your CV yourself and want a fresh pair of eyes to look it over, get in touch with one of our team here.
4. Advertise.
Once you are happy with your CV, register here and get it uploaded so all our team can access it. This blog entry is meant to be timeless, so no point guessing which will be the best job board a month or year from now. One solid tip; get your CV on the job board you see advertised a lot on TV/buses/newspapers - you can guarantee recruiters will be looking there too.
Make sure that your LinkedIn profile matches your CV and that you have correctly filled in your work history & company names. For example, don't put "P4U" or "Phones 4U Manchester" as that will be harder for someone like us to find, put in Phones 4.... and wait for the LinkedIn auto-suggest box to pop up... then select the correct company.
5. Know your rights & keep up to date.
It is easy to "cut and run" and want to draw a line under a bad experience, but make sure you keep up to date with developments, complete any paperwork you are sent promptly and do what you need to, thus ensuring you do get any rightfully owed payouts. To find out more about your rights check out https://www.gov.uk/your-rights-if-your-employer-is-insolvent.
6. Don't be a hoarder.
During any intense job hunt & especially when a company falls into administration, you are going to end up speaking to lots of recruiters (both internal & agency) and directly to hiring managers. Not every job they put in front of you is going to be right for you. Make connections, and share details between your colleagues & the people you are speaking with. Don't hoard opportunities. In a recent survey of ex-Phones 4U employees, over 60% said they either got a new role or a genuine opportunity through a personal colleague network referral. Want to get a referral? You have to give them too! Recruitment karma is a thing.
Ok. It's time for the pep talk.
If you've read this far down this is probably an issue that affects you. You probably feel pretty rubbish right about now. Maybe it's the first time you have been out of work. Well, we've got breaking news for you...
YOU DO HAVE A JOB
You have a job. Looking for work should be a full-time job in itself. It's even a great job. The boss is great. There is so much potential. However, the hours are long and the pay is crap.
Opportunities will come and go fast. It is too easy to sit back after firing off a few applications and think you've done all you can do. You need to put the hours in. As a bare minimum, you should put in 50% of the hours you used to work in a typical week. Don't forget you have a competition! If you think you've genuinely run out of things to do in your job search, get in touch with us and we bet we can find you something else to do or try.
The basic steps of a simple job-hunting process:
- Research - Find a job, research the role & the company.
- Apply - Send the best CV you can.
- Connect - Reach out to the business you've applied to, preferably direct to the person responsible for recruiting for that role (regardless of whether an agency or direct employer)
- Follow up - You've heard about the recruiter that whinged about the candidate "going quiet" on them? Well, I bet you've never heard one complain about a keen candidate.
- Expect the phone to ring. It's amazing how many candidates seem surprised when the phone rings, then don't prioritise that call! Either politely re-arrange or drop everything (even if mid-lunch) and engage with the person who has read your CV and WANTS TO TALK to you. This could be THE ONE!
Best of luck. These times won't last forever.
Winston's Wish: 55km Challenge
Anthony & Kieron dive into Manchester Canal 55km- Supporting We Love Manchester Emergency Fund & Winston's Wish
Following on from Priority Recruitment's commitment to support Winston's Wish and the tragic events in our home town of Manchester, two of our team will be taking on a challenge far greater (and longer) than they gave ever faced!
Pure Challenge say that "prior preparation will be key to your success on the event" with a 55KM (34 miles) course "Starting in the small town of Sowerby Bridge, you will trek the 55k following mainly the Rochdale canal through the Pennine hills, this is a relatively flat route giving a fantastic view of the Pennine’s without having to trek high into the hills. The event will finish in Manchester City Centre close to Piccadilly Train Station."
This is genuinely a significant challenge to both Anthony Dillon (Automotive Division) & Kieron Smithson (Retail Division), who will be implementing a significant training program to ensure success, meaning lots of time away from family. Currently, Anthony is targeting "5 hours or less" whereas Kieron is "just looking to survive".
Check back to this blog to find out how the guys are getting on and please please consider donating here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/priorityrecruitment
