HGV Mechanic

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HGV Technician to join a global leading HGV manufacturer (trucks and buses) as a Field Service Engineer, your responsiblities will include delivering the highest quality of repairs to both retail and warrantable vehicles.
Monday - Friday alternating weekly shifts of: 0600 - 1400 and 1400 - 2200
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Carry out accurate fault diagnosis on (not limited to but including) vehicle air brake systems, vehicle hydraulic systems, Multiplex and J1939 technology
• Conduct vehicle inspections to the minimum DVSA standard or above, up to and including MOT preparation and presentation
• Visit customer’s premises and carry out repairs in the most efficient manner without compromising quality
• Ensure safe working practices and that the required health and safety paperwork is completed for each task
• Participate in the training of new employees as required
• Accurately communicate to the depots parts required to complete repairs and control any stock allocated to the van
• Process all paperwork, such as, job sheets, time sheets in a timely and legible manner
• Before using any technical documentation, i.e. parts manuals, service bulletins, etc, ensure they are at the current level
• Maintain highest possible level of housekeeping in all areas, including, premises, people, equipment and vehicles standard
• Ensure excellent level of customer communication and that they are kept fully aware of the situation in a timely manner
• Participate in the ‘on call’ system, alternating with team members (attracts additional payment)
• Carry out any other duties within their capabilities as deemed appropriate by the company
Qualification:
• A skilled mechanic with experience fitting HGV vehicles
• City and Guilds Level 3 or NVQ level 3 (HGV Mechanic/technician) or relevant industry experience
• Computer literate and familiar with various computer diagnostic systems are essential attributes
• Good knowledge of health and safety practices
• Knowledgeable in quality standards and legal compliance
• Driving licence - Ideally PCV or Class 1/2

Salary: Basic £32,656 - £36,066 (£27,500 basic + Allowances and Overtime - a minimum of 5 hrs p/wk overtime at £19.83 per hour + on call bonus + use of company van) genuine OTE of £40 - £45k
